5:13 King Solomon conscripted ¹  work crews ²  from throughout Israel, 30,000 men in all.

9:22 Solomon did not assign Israelites to these work crews; ³  the Israelites served as his soldiers, attendants, officers, charioteers, and commanders of his chariot forces. ⁴ 

Yeremia 34:14

34:14 “Every seven years each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you for six years, you shall set them free.” ⁵  But your ancestors did not obey me or pay any attention to me.

[5:13]  ² sn Work crews. This Hebrew word (מַס, mas) refers to a group of laborers conscripted for royal or public service.

[9:22]  ³ sn These work crews. The work crews referred to here must be different than the temporary crews described in 5:13-16.
